Updated Typewriter Field Kit

Salutations Typospherians!

Here is my final design of the Typewriter Survival Kit. I was disappointed that I haven't been able to find any appropriate brushes to include, but I am quite happy with the way this has turned out and will be carrying one myself. Darling suggested a multi-tool instead of separate, tiny pliers and screwdrivers and I think this was a stroke of brilliance, because now I can offer three times the tools all in one instrument. I also added a small LED flashlight, as I never go typer-hunting without one and use them extensively at home when working on my machines. Tell me what you think! Should anything be added or removed? I'm very interested in the Typosphere's feedback!

Typewriters Eat My Soul (and Money): Of Flooded Apartments and A Strange Foot Fetish

Yeah, it's not as intriguing as it first sounds. But enjoy the typecast anyway and the accompanying photos!

And for a one-time offer you get to see my workstation in all it's messy glory! Which was really dumb of me because I had to move most of it to use my scanner anyway. Well, hindsight and all that. I'm still not finished moving things around either; I eventually want the Remington 7 to go behind the scanner so I can just pull it out and use it. My machine accumulation will be slowing down considerably or screeching to a halt, so I'll be able to get everything exactly where I want it.

I'm going to go and tweak my Etsy listings tonight, maybe upload more (and more descriptive) photos. Tomorrow I think I'll get some extreme closeups of the Remington Noiseless Seven's feet, possibly even in the grass, if that hasn't been flooded too. We shall see.

The International Correspondence Initiative Round Two: LAST CALL!

Salutations, Denizens of the Typosphere! I will be announcing the round two pairings for the ICI this time next week, so now is the time to throw your hat in if you would like to be a part of this rounds' correspondence fun! All round one correspondents are checked in and accounted for, so I'm hoping to hear from new folks. Don't be shy! Round one was a great time and round two looks to be twice the size already, so it should be even better.

The Venice Type-In and Plumeria: The Grand Debut of the Oliver No. 5 Print Type

Note: This is a long one. There are a lot of images and scanned documents, as I kept everything that was left in our machines. I think that they will say volumes about the flavor of the day, perhaps more than the typecast itself. I am going to try to present images in the best order I can, interspersed with relevant text. What came with the Oliver will be posted immediately after the typecast, followed by photos and text from the type-in itself. Sorry for the infodump; I didn't realize I had so much until I began scanning! So take a potty break, get a snack and drink, then pull up the seating implement of your choice and enjoy!

On the way home, I got choked up again thinking about the documentary and how much use the Oliver saw. The previous owner wanted the machine to be shared and enjoyed, and that it certainly was. I think she would have been ecstatic.
