Typogram from notagain 2: the Stamp Edition

Or...I could have been hitting the spacebar accidentally. The keys have a very light, loose action.

Sorry for the bluriness, and the lack of getting the Aristocrat logo in the shot.

Love these stamps! Did you carve them, or pick them up at the type-in. Peter? I'd love to know.

  1. Looks like your Royal is skipping. They tend to develop problems with their escapements ...

    1. Thank you for isolating the problem, Richard! Oooh, it looks like replacing that is going to be a project.

  2. I LOVE those Aristocrats. Sorry it skips! I think these might be the best typewriters ever.

    1. This is actually the first Aristocrat I've seen in person. It's definitely growing on me! I have another, newer one on its way here, but there's just a certain charm about the older incarnations...

  3. I am having all kinds of rotten luck with the capcha lately...

I was TRYING to say I love these Aristocrats and basically my favorite typewriter is pretty much exactly like yours but it doesn't skip and I wonder if there might hopefully be a solution easier than replacing the escapement gear to fix it. sometimes I find that how I type changes how often it skips and I can train myself to be skip free on some pretty worn out typers.

    1. Hahaha, it's all good, Mark! This one does show definite signs of wear; the keytops are all scratched up, his mother right off the bad said it was from someone's fingernails. So this machine has seen a lot of use over its lifespan. He tried typing in different manners; still, it skips. So it'll probably become a project to fix that gear soon.

  4. I carved all of them at different times. Glad you like them!
Team Catnip is my letterboxing trail name. the ones with years are for Lunar New Year, and the big one was carved at the event, which is a letterboxing tradition of event stamp carving. here's a link to read more:

    1. Very cool! I should learn stamp-carving; you're the second Typospherian that I know of that does it. It looks like it would be a lot of fun.

They're all very cool, but I must admit I have a fondness for dragons, so I really like your year of the dragon stamp, and my husband pointed out the rabbit stamp, and then with quick succession, the cat! He has a particular fondness for cats. And I'm impressed with the size of the one for the Type-In; did it take long to carve?

Thank you for the link! I was completely unaware of this hobby, but it sounds like a riotously good time. I may have to see if there are letterboxers in my area; I certainly know of some good spots to plant one!
